Steuler was founded in 1908 by Georg Steuler in Höhr-Grenzhausen, Germany. Steuler developed the worldâs first acid-resistant mastic (potash water glaze) and laid the foundation stone for Steuler Industriewerke (until 2010). Steuler-Keramik was a part of the company and was founded in 1917. Today it is named Steuler-Fliesen, and they are renowned for producing ceramic tiles.
Cari Zalloni was born in 1937 in Athens, Greece. Upon graduating (from the Academy of Applied Arts in Vienna), he relocated to Siena, Italy to design furniture, and soon after moved again to Germany to work as an independent designer. He designed various glasses series for the ornamental ceramics company Steuler-Keramik and for the Glashütte Maximiliansau. His visionary designs helped propel Steuler's ceramics to the forefront of modernist design.
This pair of lamps are an incredibly beautiful design. The light catches the curves of the facet really well be them turned on or off, the warm cream glossy glaze with its very faint lightly speckled dots of grey contribute to its glamorous luxury look. This pair of lamps will make a stunning and timeless collection to any interior. The large lamp bases are in fantastic condition, the bases have the original felt to prevent the ceramic marking any surfaces.
The original brass fittings are all in tact and have a bayonet fitting, the plugs have been changed to modern 3amp ones.
